My New Staples
Every year I find myself purchasing summer staples, carefully considered and well thought out. Past years have included denim high-waisted shorts, floral maxi skirts, cowboy boots and the ill-fated cotton waistcoat. This year, though my bank balance is very low, my taste seems to have gone premium. As an avid collector of Vogue and Look magazines, I have spotted Sarah Jessica Parker (my goddess, my one, my only) several times wearing the most beautiful outfits, most specifically a pair of Louis Vuitton white courts, the very essence of summer. The £600 price tag has urged me to find a high-street lookalike, which I have discovered in the form of the Kandi courts at Office, with a cool price of £65. Alongside these beautiful shoes, I feel this summer calls for some pizazz, in the form of floral trousers and silky peplum tops. The obligatory denim jacket will also be purchased as well as some purse-friendly sandals from the one-stop everything-shop Primark. These, alongside the statement pieces I will be putting on my staff card from good ole Toppers, will be my summer saviours. From long walks in the park in sandals to lounging in a midi dress, partying in a silk top to evening meals with a denim cover up, every girl’s summer staples are the foundation upon which the rest of her wardrobe should be built upon. Clear out your heavy-knit jumpers and dark denim jeans and make room for your summer staples.
